My name is John Sheppard, I am a sportsman and fly tyer from Cormack, Newfoundland, Canada.

Cormack is located on the westcoast of the island close to the Big Falls on one of the World's great salmon rivers "THE HUMBER". Newfoundland and Labrador has over 200 scheduled rivers and some of the best recreational fishing in the world. 

It all began when my uncle gave me a fly tying kit and I began to tie salmon and trout flies. When anglers saw the fish I caught they wanted my flies.... and so to keep people from coming to the house at 4 o'clock in the morning on their way fishing my father built a store. Sheppard's Store started in 1975 and operated as a seasonal business supplying flies and recreational supplies to fishers and hunters. It soon became apparent that a seasonal business was not enough, and so in 1982 Straight Line Sports was established.

     Since then, Straight Line Sports has expanded to carry a full line of sports fishing supplies and sells retail and wholesale. The business has been successful in expanding product lines and in obtaining repeat business accounts throughout Canada. The expanding business has improved the prices and service on accounts.

Straight Line Sports has offered courses in fly tying and rod building, and has been a source of professional information for innovative fly patterns and techniques. Straight Line Sports has one of the best quality line of salmon and trout flies in Eastern Canada with expected growth in the future to be a leader in the industry.

During the summer months of July and August, business with Straight Line Sports is handled through its summer location at Sheppard's Store in Cormack located next to the mighty Humber River and the Big Falls.
