Striped Bass
Many anglers enjoy fishing Striped Bass.
Stripes Bass can
be caught from early spring to late fall and from time to time through the ice.
Anglers like to fish Striped Bass in tidal waters in the spring
as they enter the rivers to spawn. When the bay tides are strong, tidal rivers
can be temporarily reversed, causing a crest of water to form as the water
heads against its normal flow–a tidal bore. During the early spring as Striped
Bass head into the rivers to spawn, this crest of water carries the Striped Bass
on the high tide
Water clarity is a factor when fishing tidal rivers. Striped Bass can be
fished with hard tackle or flies. Check local angling regulation regulations
for season dates, catch limits, and license requirements.
Striped Bass start heading into the river when the water reaches the low
10 degree Celsius temperatures, with spawning starting
at 16 degrees Celsius. You can catch big Striped Bass at that time,
particularly during a storm front or new moon with high tide hitting at
night.
